Facilities Tech
The Geneva School is a mission-driven school established in 1993. The Facilities Tech is a full-time position working 7:00 am to 4:00 pm under the direction of the Director of Facilities. The Facilities Tech position is responsible for and helps provide repairs and general maintenance and assists in the operation of groups, facilities, gymnasiums, playing fields, buildings, parking lots, concession areas and playground.
I. Essential Duties
Specific Job Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform light plumbing and irrigation.
  • Perform light electrical and lighting.
  • Perform light carpentry and tile work.
  • Perform painting (to a height of 12 feet) and drywall repairs.
  • May be required to stand or walk for long periods of time along with standing, stooping, pulling, pushing carts, lifting should have full use of limbs.
  • Perform light trenching.
  • Required to do school event set-up’s.
  • Must learn Asset Essentials work order system operation.
  • Fill out work orders completely in the Asset Essentials system.
  • Do required PM’s assigned to you.
  • Assist in all aspects of property operations.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, administration, and parents with regard to repairs, work orders and set-ups.
  • Clean-up and sanitation of bodily fluid spills when necessary.
  • Must reply and respond to emails and text messages daily when working to keep communication open.
  • Must use goggles, masks, gloves, or other related protective equipment supplied to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals and products when using or cleaning up spills.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash and debris on campus.
  • Operate machinery, hand tools and power tools.
  • Assist contractors with access to areas as needed.
  • Must be able to read and understand MSDS sheets and safety with chemical uses.
  • Load and unload supplies as necessary.
  • Retrieve items off campus when needed.
  • Rake and maintain the playground as needed.
  • Apply pesticide (ant only).
  • Move items around campus as needed.
  • Open buildings and gates as needed.
  • Write maintenance requests as needed.
  • Pick up parts as needed (approval of manager/assistant manager required).
  • Advise the manager of any extra work so a work order can be produced.

  • Physical effort required by the job includes standing, climbing stairs stooping, pulling, pushing carts, and lifting up to 70-85 lbs.

  • Use hands/arms to reach in any direction and seize, grasp, hold, and turn objects using hand(s). Use fingers, versus the whole hand, to pick, pinch, and feel objects.
  • See, talk, and hear to communicate with others in person, electronically, by phone, or by radio. Visual functions include the ability to identify and distinguish colors and bring an object into sharp focus.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Must possess knowledge and experience working with lighting, painting, drywall repair, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Possess a valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and must be approved to drive Geneva vehicles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to use a computer and phone for Google apps to navigate email and work order systems.
  • Must have previous experience in facilities maintenance work repairs.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades.
  • HVAC experience a plus but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts; ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Ability to comprehend and understand blueprints/drawings/diagrams is a plus.
  • High level of initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Shows the ability to perform a full range of maintenance work assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations.
