Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hands-On Lean and 5S Facilitator to join our team on a 3-month contract basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving efficiency and organization through the implementation of Lean principles and 5S methodology across our site. This position will involve a combination of training sessions and hands-on project management to optimize workspace organization, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational excellence.

Job Description

• Lead and actively participate in hands-on 5S projects across the site to improve workplace organization, cleanliness, and overall efficiency.
• Demonstrate physical capability to lift and move objects as required during the implementation of 5S initiatives.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain 5S practices in various work areas.
• Conduct training sessions on Lean principles, 5S methodology, and other relevant tools to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees.
• Provide coaching and support to individuals and teams, ensuring the successful adoption of Lean practices.
• Develop and execute project plans for 5S initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement corrective actions to achieve desired outcomes.
• Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and workflows.
• Analyze performance metrics and provide recommendations for enhancements based on Lean principles.

Skills Required

• Experience working in a hazardous waste environmental
• Understanding of permitting/environmental compliance
• Certification in Lean or 5S (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, 5S Certification) is a plus.
• Experience in the Waste Management industry is a plus.
• Proven experience in facilitating hands-on 5S projects in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Proven experience as a Lean and 5S practitioner, with a strong track record of successful project implementation.
• Solid understanding of Lean principles, 5S methodology, and their application in diverse work environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and coach employees at all levels.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence.
• Physical ability to lift and move objects as needed during the implementation of 5S initiatives.

Education/Training/Certification

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Operations Management) preferred.

Additional Requirements

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed documentation of 5S projects, including before-and-after assessments, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Prepare regular reports and updates for management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and future improvement opportunities.
• Lean 5S is the most important.
• Certification is not mandatory. Experience will be valued over education.
• Kaizen is also very beneficial
• Wastewater facility, that also deals with hazardous waste.
