PPC Solar is Hiring a Project Manager Near Albuquerque, NM

Position purpose

  • PM Role Mantra – leading, communicating, negotiating, problem-solving, influencing, delegating & being proactive.

Location - Greater Albuquerque area with light travel throughout New Mexico (Santa Rosa, Socorro, Grants, Santa Fe)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Attend commercial project kick-off meetings to ensure smooth transition.
  • Ensure site visit checklist is complete and all aspects of design, installation and customer expectations are evaluated. Must physically observe all areas where installation will be happening, including climbing on roofs and looking in breaker panels.
  • Create and administer JHA’s for site specific conditions
  • Coordinate with electric utility and other permitting agencies, as necessary. Ensure permits will be obtained as needed.
  • Verify materials are specified and ordered for delivery in time for scheduled installation.
  • Hold regular commercial project meetings with stakeholders as determined at kick-off.
  • Prepare and administer project specific site reports (as outlined by contracting entity).
  • Attend weekly project scheduling meeting in each region where projects are active or pending. 
  • Update and review Project Management tools with project status.
  • Ensure Field Folder complete and up to date.
  • Improve project deployment process to increase quality and efficiency with collaboration and agreement of all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for proactive client communications throughout the project after the final design is approved.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors including roofers, builders, groundwork, concrete etc.
  • Administer contract with customer and subcontractors. Ensure all aspects of contracts are complied with.
  • Ensure that preconstruction meetings occur for each project.
  • Coordinate for crew / installer staffing. 
  • Act as point of contact to communicate installation problems.
  • Communicate with the salesperson any project information that affects scope and price.
  • Ensure that disconnections and reconnects are scheduled with the Utility, inspectors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that inspections are scheduled and staffed.
  • Verify post installation checklist and system performance testing is completed.
  • Ensure all job documentation is complete, correct and filed in the appropriate location.
  • Notify accounting when projects are ready to invoice.

Individual KPI’s

  1. Cost vs. budget. The budgeted cost of work that has actually been performed in carrying out a scheduled task during a specific time period.
  2. Project progress relative to milestones.
  3. Number of complaints.
  4. Number of incidents/accidents.
  5. The number of working hours spent on different aspects of the project.
  6. Efficient use of materials(for example, the amount of concrete poured).

Qualifications

  • Must possess 3 years’ experience managing construction projects
  • Strong background in defining key project metrics for project status tracking and communication
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain an understanding of solar PV systems
  • Awareness of NEC code and IBC building standards
  • Strong computer skills and fluent navigation of multiple software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GSuite
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, & have ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Excellent customer service skills, clear communication and strong coordination skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to challenge and professionally debate issues of importance to stakeholder and the organization
  • Have the ability to legally and safely operate motor vehicles 

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Ability to operate basic hand tools (crowbar, hammer, etc)
  • Ability to operate equipment (forklift, manlift, pallet jack, etc)
  • Ability to work in a squatting, standing, twisted, and stretched position
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs safely, and walk on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to be at desk for 8 hours
