Role and Responsibilities

Assembler – Under direct supervision during training period, is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to assist in machine shop activities that may include, assembling, bundling, and unbundling, processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the shop. Assisting Machine Operators in a timely and efficient manner to minimize production down time, as well as perform other routine maintenance tasks as required to support production.

• Ensure personal safety and that of team members in the area; immediately reporting unsafe conditions to a leader; take action to prevent accidents and injuries; reporting malfunctions of equipment and deficiencies in process.
• Bundle and Unbundle Tube and Shafts.
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Load and unload raw material safely and properly for production of designated parts.
• Perform inspections at frequency, utilizing measurement tools, to ensure 100% quality of finished parts.
• Request assistance of the maintenance services group whenever a non-conforming function or status of a machine is observed.
• Have the ability and aptitude to make minor mechanical adjustments as needed.
• Learn and know Custom Pipe policies and procedures, conducting oneself in a positive and professional manner, promoting team unity and continuity.
• Be willing to cross-train in other Operator capacities within the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be willing to learn and improve to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• High school diploma or GED required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED.
• Good manual dexterity, squatting is required, vision, hearing, eye-hand coordination and be physically capable of performing heavy work.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of how to use Tape Measure
• Experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, electric lifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks is an advantage.
• Must be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator.

• Satisfactory pre-employment drug testing is required.
