21ST CENTURY DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in:
  • Supervisor/Director
  • Principal/Assistant Principal
  • Experience implementing out-of-school time activities for diverse students in an urban setting.
  • Substantial knowledge of issues and program strategies related to youth development;
  • Highly organized in scheduling and program management;
  • Priority is given to individuals familiar with SAYO (Survey of After School Youth Outcomes) on-line assessment system and who have participated in MADESE 21st Century trainings.
  • Knowledge of principles related to the development of youth between 5 and 18 years of age
  • Knowledge of infusing academic and project-based learning experiences that align with student interest
  • Knowledge of Deeper Learning
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children to effectively problem-solve
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
  • Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend all district and state-level meetings and trainings;
  • Serve as a communication liaison between DESE, school administration, and program staff - responding before/after school
  • Work with the School Based Site Coordinators, school administration, and Community Based Organizations to develop programming as described in the 21st century grant;
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff;
  • Assist school-based site coordinators with recruitment to identify program candidates and those who are recommended by teachers, counselors, and administrators
  • Work in conjunction with School Based Site Coordinators in the recruitment, operations, and interviewing;
  • Build and strengthen relationships with community partners
  • Supervise the performance and effectiveness of program staff and community-based partners
  • Establish systems and structures that create a program model that prepares youth for success, promotes the safety of members and quality in programs at all times
  • Provide the timeline, resources, overview of systems and structures, data collection, and academic and operational expectations of programming;
  • Must communicate about, meet data collection deadlines, and ensure programming is fully staffed
  • Provide leadership at special programs and/or events;
  • Participate in the evaluation of student and program outcomes using DESE Assessment Tools and learning walks as required by the district and 21st Century Grant;
  • Maintain all student enrollment information, student attendance, and pertinent student data
  • Provide professional learning experiences and council meetings with Site Coordinators and Community Based Organizations
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to manage situations of ambiguity

SALARY: $75,000-$100,000 Depending on Experience


REPORT TO:
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

WORK YEAR: 12-month position

WORK HOURS:

  • School Year Typical work hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Summer Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30AM- 4:00PM Friday- Non Work Day. Work Hours may be required outside of regular scheduled hours, due to bussing, professional development, and other responsibilities.
