Transportation Inc., headquartered in Clayton, Alabama, is a flatbed truckload carrier that operates throughout the eastern two-thirds of the United States, hauling primarily steel products and building materials. In these markets, Boyd Bros. serves high-volume, time-sensitive shippers that demand time-definite delivery.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Diesel Technician at the Birmingham, AL terminal location.
Multiple Shifts Available
Essential Job Functions
· Performs repairs and preventative maintenance checks and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
· Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, air and hydraulic systems.
· Prepares tractor/trailers and assigned equipment for operation.
· Performs preventative maintenance on tools, repair parts, equipment and assigned vehicles.
· Adjust operating mechanisms.
· Determines extent of corrective action and repair parts required to correct malfunctions.
· Replace engine components and accessories.
· Responsible to possess and use necessary hand tools for assigned tasks (special tools not required).
· Capable of operating power tools and equipment.
· Obtains replacement parts and turns in unserviceable parts to part section while adhering to policies and required procedures.
· Reads, understands and applies information contained in company maintenance manuals, technical manuals, policies and common schematic diagrams.
· Knows and applies required company safety procedures.
· Completes applicable maintenance forms and records.
· Completion of other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designated authority
Physical and other requirements:
1. Must be able to read detailed technical manuals.
2. Must possess tools for given tasks in skill levels.
3. Must possess dexterity in both hands.
4. Able to lift 80-100 pounds and carry 20 feet.
5. Able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or lay prone for sustained work periods.
