Position Summary: The Volunteer Initiatives Program Coordinator supports the Volunteer Generation Fund Program Officer through administrative and outreach support, record keeping and reporting, relationship building and special projects.
This position will allocate .5 FTE to Volunteer Generation Fund duties, working with the VGF Program Officer to build capacity and volunteer infrastructure throughout Nevada and .5 FTE working with the VGF Program Officer to recognize outstanding volunteerism and service throughout the State through Nevada Volunteer’s Stars of Nevada – Governor’s Points of Light event.

Strength, dexterity, and coordination to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods. Some reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary. Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper. Occasional lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials. Some reaching for items above and below desk level. The manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer using word processing and databases. The ability to interact professionally, communicate effectively, and exchange information accurately with all internal and external customers. Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others, including supervisors, coworkers, employees, and the public. Maintain regular and consistent punctuality and attendance. Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) is occasionally required.
Working Conditions: Work is performed under the following conditions:
This position functions indoors in an office-type environment where most work is performed at a desk or similar workspace. Volunteer Initiatives Program Coordinator will be required to travel by car to appointments, site visits, to pick up or deliver material, and to travel by airplane for multi-day/overnight conferences, activities and meetings. Site-based work environment is generally clean with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, or odors. Frequent interruptions to planned work activities occur.
Note: This position is expected to work an eight-hour shift from either the Nevada Volunteers headquarters in Sparks, Nevada or remotely, which means work from home or other location. Changes to essential functions and working conditions must be brought first to the attention of the Volunteer Generation Fund Program Officer or senior member of the Nevada Volunteers leadership team. The Volunteer Initiatives Program Coordinator is expected to attend in-person, site-based activities, meetings, events, and other functions as assigned. A minimum of 25% travel by vehicle and airline is required.
Who we are: Nevada Volunteers is the Governor’s Commission on Service. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Nevada through National Service and volunteerism. As the State’s central coordinating body for service and volunteerism, Nevada Volunteers is responsible for developing, implementing and sustaining a vision and culture of civic engagement and National Service throughout the State. We do this through the administration of AmeriCorps State and National grants, training, and elevating volunteerism, volunteer management infrastructure, and National Service in Nevada.
