Bishop State is Hiring a Clerk, Truck Driving Near Mobile, AL

Position Summary

The Clerk position organizes and delivers office and information functions, manages, and creates department records, continually assesses and monitors processes, and manages the office environment. The Clerk position is responsible for data warehousing and reporting, tracking department budget and purchases and ensuring compliance with DOT reporting.

  • Ability to read, understand, and review documents for accuracy and relevant information.
  • Ability to use applicable office terminology, forms, documents, and procedures in the course of the work.
  • Ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to assemble, organize, and prepare data for records and reports.
  • Ability to compose letters, memos, forms, and charts independently.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with peers and other staff, students, and the public in a manner reflecting positively on the department and the College.
  • Ability to organize and maintain records.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and complete work to meet established deadlines.
  • Compile data (e.g. gas card expenses, time cards, etc.) for the purpose of preparing reports or processing requests.
  • Coordinate assigned projects and/or program components (e.g. drug testing, bus routing, fleet fuel, fleet maintenance programs, etc.) for the purpose of completing activities and/or delivering services in compliance with established guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. department databases, time sheets, expense reimbursement requests, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College.
  • Respond to a wide variety of program-specific and general inquiries about the Truck Driving program.
  • Assist in registration and pre-registration as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies.
  • Serve on College committees when requested.
  • Submit required reports to the chairperson or Dean of Career and Technical Education.
  • Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, Dean of Career and Technical Education, Vice President of Instructional Services, and/or President.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of experience in office practices and procedures using general clerical skills.
Salary: ACCS Salary Schedule- E5-06 ($28,271 - $45,419)
