GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Preschool Prep Teacher will be available during their scheduled program/class. This person is an advocate for YMCA Core Values and assists in carrying out the YMCA/JCC of Greater Toledo's Mission Statement. This individual will possess extensive experience in leading creative and art lesson programs and will ensure a great environment and act as a liaison between parents, students and the Associate Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Knowledge about all phases of the various forms of art, related skills and instructional techniques. Ability to lead others. Strong communication and teamwork skills. At least 18 years old.
2. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans for the art program, providing for an enriching and fun environment.
2. Be ready to work at scheduled times.

1. Teach foundational skills, such as recognizing letter, colors, numbers and shaped, as well as social, language and motor skills.
2. Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms
3. Provide basic needs for children
4. Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities
5. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children
6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents
7. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom
8. Help children reach developmental milestones

• Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times
• Maintain inventory system for classroom materials and supplies
• Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games and storytelling and crafts
• Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures

1. Supervise the students to ensure all rules are being followed.
2. Act as a liaison between parents, students and the Associate Executive Director.
3. Start and end programs/classes on time.
4. Understand and demonstrate the YMCA/JCC philosophy and core values.
5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
