Development Team Manager

The Role:

We are looking for a seasoned Microsoft BC Development Team Manager, who considers themselves to be a strategic-coder and experienced manager. This role will require both leadership abilities and senior level skills as a BC Developer. We need candidates with a proven track record of successfully developing defined solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, while collaborating closely with team members and following defined methodology.

The ideal person for this role will have experience driving initiatives, ensuring quality deliverables, and developing a team with similar goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Code Development:

As a Senior BC Developer, you can expect to dedicate 70% of your time on the following tasks: 

  • Assist in estimation, planning, and development of software projects, with a particular

focus on best practices for technology.

  • Collaborating on creation of Functional Design documents.
  • Writing code to extend all functional areas of Dynamics BC.
  • Development of integration code using the most efficient and stable technologies.
  • Testing functionality developed by the implementation team against business

requirements.

  • Deliver modifications in a timely manner and within budget constraints.
  • Provide pre-go-live and post-go-live end-user support.
  • Serving as the lead technical expert on the implementation team.
  • Implement robust testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of software

solutions.

Team Leadership: 

As the Development Team Manager, 30% of your time will be concentrated on Managing your own Team:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, providing technical expertise and

guidance to the team.

  • Coach and mentor team members, provide guidance and support, and promote a

culture of continuous learning and improvement.

    • Research upcoming BC updates for impact on future development needs (e.g. – sunsetting of functionality) and educate resources.
  • Conduct team meetings for collaboration and team building exercises.
  • Prepare and provide annual performance reviews.
  • Evaluate resources for development needs and career growth.
  • Conduct periodic one on one with direct reports.
  • Assist with resource allocation across projects.
  • Implement robust testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of software

solutions.

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation on developer

deliverables and processes.

  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues associated with software engineering projects. 

Who you are:

    • 10 or more years of experience as a software developer working with Dynamics

Business Central / NAV; at least 3 years of which must be with the AL programming

language.

  • 2 or more years of direct experience managing a team.
  • Additional experience with NAV versions 5.0 through 2018 is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience working with clients with at least one of the following: Power

Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Azure Development

  • Experience extending common third-party add-on solutions.
  • Experience with automated testing desired.
  • Candidates experienced with Docker, Git, and Azure DevOps will receive partial

preference.

  • Nice to have certifications:
  • MB-800 – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant
  • AZ-204 – Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure
  • PL-400 - Power Platform Developer Associate
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research.
  • 5 years of experience with enterprise systems, software, and platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and organization skills.
  • Strong in the areas of strategic thinking and problem solving.
