Job Summary: To effectively and efficiently supervise all functions and activities of the Sunrise Kitchens (Commissary Department) and its Associates to achieve the Department’s goals (i.e. sales, profit, Customer Experience, and Associate Engagement) in accordance with our Purpose and Service Priorities under the direction of the General Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
  • Assist with the onboarding and training of all new department Associates.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate activities/daily operations of the commissary and and cold catering of workers engaged in preparing and serving food for Sunrise Kitchens and Sunrise Kitchens Caterers.
  • Provide continual training, developmental action planning, and meaningful feedback to hold Associates accountable to job performance.
  • Maintain an open line of communication and work cooperatively with all business partners/managers.
  • Monitor quality of all products and services produced out of the commissary.
  • Adjust daily schedule for shift personnel to ensure optimal efficiency within the department.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies.
  • Strong recipe creation skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination with the Catering Department.
  • Comply with legal statues for all products as it pertains to Menu Labeling.
  • Knowledge and experience with Profit and Loss Statements as they pertain to the department's operations.
  • Ensure Unit Price Labels (price tags) for all items are maintained and are current.
  • Ensure all merchandise is stocked, rotated and merchandised in display cases, shelves and other applicable displays according to tag allocation and department standards.
  • Understand and utilize all required applications and current technology as relates to Food Service Operations.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices, if needed, to actual product received.
  • Ensure all reports and records are accurate, complete and retained in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ensure the quality of all product received and secure properly in appropriate storage areas.
  • Understand and adhere to Company Shrink Guidelines as relates to Food Service Operations.
  • Understand and manage the components of shrink, i.e. waste, yields, weight variances.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce department and Company policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Qualifications: The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
  • Previous experience in Food Service or other related fields.
  • Knowledge of common Food Safety and Quality Assurance practices .
  • Strong proven progressive leadership qualities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management skills a must!
  • Ability to manage 12 food preparation workers and cooks.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a cold and warm environment most of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. often.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 60 lbs.
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
