The Personal Banker provides professional, superior quality customer service to new and established clients, including cross-selling of products and services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide a complete range of customer services, including deposit products, consumer loans, IRAs, certificates of deposit, safe deposit, merchant services, treasury services and gathering all required customer information to process new and existing accounts.
  • Make retention and business development calls on existing & potential new clients, as directed by Market Manager.
  • Proactively prospect referrals to other lines of business.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all accounts are properly documented per BSA/Compliance standards and all Bank policy & procedures are followed.
  • Assist supervisor in reaching goals and objectives for the office.
  • Participate in sales, service and product meetings conducted by supervisor(s). 
  • Open and close office by following established security procedures.
  • Research, resolve and respond timely to customer inquiries.
  • Perform a variety of customer service transactions, such as account holds, stop-payment orders, check and debit card orders and wire transfers.
  • Order supplies, if assigned by supervisor(s). 
  • Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate employees.
  • Comply with all regulations pertaining to BSA, USA PATRIOT ACT, AND OFAC requirements.
  • Complete annual BSA training. Report suspicious activity, or any attempt to avoid BSA reporting requirements on the part of customers or employees, to the Compliance Department.
  • Maintain privacy and security of customer information.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years’ teller or banking experience including formal teller and new accounts training
  • Understanding of financial products and services
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and manage time
  • Educated in banking regulations and laws

Language and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent client service and communication skills 
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions managers, clients, and the general public
  • Effective interpersonal relationships with management and team members 
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Computer and Office Equipment Skills

  • Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel)
  • Word processing software (Microsoft Word)
  • Other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook)
  • Copier/Scanner
