Inland Marine Service is Hiring a Cook Near Paducah, KY

Position Title: Cook

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:

  1. Photo ID and TWIC
  2. Prior Experience As a Commercial Cook

MAJOR FOCUS:

RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLANNING, ORDERING, STOWAGE AND PREPARATION OF ALL FOODS IN A SAFE AND SANITARY FASHION ONBOARD THE TOWBOAT. MAINTAIN THE UTMOST INTEGRITY AND THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF SERVICE TO ALL CREW MEMBERS AND GUESTS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Memorize and carry out duty assignments on the vessel
  • Know proper lifejacket donning methods.
  • Ensure that personal protective safety equipment is properly used for all tasks involving physical hazards.
  • Apply strong planning and organizational skills to ordering and stowage of stores.
  • Apply systematic processes to store rotation for health and cost considerations.
  • Perform a monthly store inventory of all onboard stores.
  • Put up stores on shelves, bins and refrigerators as required
  • Prepare nutritional meals three times daily for 30-day service hitches for up to 10 crewmembers and 2 guests.
  • Clean all dishes, serving platters, pans, pots and fryers as required for the utmost in sanitation.
  • Maintain the vessel galley and dining areas in a clean and serviceable manner.
  • Participate in Safety, Marine and other training as required.
  • Participate in all emergency drills as directed.
  • Participate in departmental and safety meetings as requested.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical qualifications listed below are general requirements for this position. The actual exertion level (and frequency of use) can and does fluctuate depending on the individual tasks being performed.

  • Must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to stand and walk during most if not the entire 12-hour shift. Job will require routine bending, stretching, kneeling and lifting of objects, which weigh over 20 lbs.
  • Good hearing and vision is required.
  • Must be capable of working on vessel in all types of weather conditions during day and night hours when the possibility of vessel movement exists due to wave or wind action.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions yet follow orders in an emergency situation.
  • Must submit to U. S. Coast Guard required DOT compliant Drug Testing Program.
  • Must comply with the policies and procedures of Inland Marine Service, Inc.
