Description

Assistant Plant Manager responsibilities include all aspects of safety compliance and documentation, production, delivery, receiving, maintenance, and customer service for the location, as directed by Plant Management. This position is located in Portales, NM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Lead employees in safe work practices
• Conduct safety training as directed by Plant Manager and EHS Director
• Conduct new employee safety training
• Support All Established Safety Programs
• Assist in coordination and scheduling of production
• Support Established Housekeeping Program
• Follow all current GMPs 
• Manage production personnel overtime to levels established by Plant Management
• Engage employees and monitor participation in Food Safety Programs
• Support Growth and Development of entire production team
• Manage safety compliance and EHS documentation, as directed by Plant Management
• Comply with company, federal, state, and local regulations and policies 
• Support established Preventive Maintenance Program
• Support shift and production goals
• Ensure warehouse inventory quality and accurate inventory counts
• Ensure Quality Control, and timeliness of shipments
• Ability to work independently in all production areas, if required
• All other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
• Develop creative ideas to improve efficiency of production and maintenance

Requirements

Qualifications: 

• 2-3 years feed mill experience preferred.
• College degree is a plus 
• High level of detail, multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with intuition to create solution.
• Positive, self-motivated individual with organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Communication skills – ability to listen and provide feedback both verbally and in writing.
• Teamwork skills – build a positive work environment.
• Leadership skills – demonstrate passion for the job and hold employees accountable.
• Strong customer service commitment.

Physical Demands 

• Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, climb 100-foot fixed ladders, work with background noise and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. 
• Ability to navigate an office environment.

Base Salary – TBD and commensurate with skill and experience levels
