Career Planner – Reentry Program

Forward Careers, Inc. seeks two (2) detail-oriented and results driven individuals with prior case management, job placement, and recruiting experience to join our team as temporary Career Planner to deliver the Department of Labor Pathway Home 2 - Project RENEW program.

This is a grant-funded position with the possibility to extend employment after October 2024, but not guaranteed. 

ABOUT PROJECT RENEW

Forward Careers is the recipient of a $1.5 million Pathway Home grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. Project RENEW (Revitalizing & Empowering the Next Employable Workforce) will assist individuals now or once involved in the criminal justice system to secure employment in their communities by facilitating access to education, career training, on-the-job training, supportive/wrap around services, and apprenticeship opportunities.

In partnership with the Department of Corrections, Forward Careers will provide pre- and post-release services to about 80 individuals being released to Southeast Wisconsin. The ultimate goal is to help eliminate the gap between release and enrollment into a reentry training program via direct on-the-job employment.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL ENTAIL

  • Determine client eligibility based on grant requirements;
  • Determine client’s strengths, screen for barriers, build relationships with clients, determine job readiness, administer and interpret assessment tools to assist clients develop their individual employment plans;
  • Deliver the program’s curriculum to clients to ensure program success;
  • Jointly develop resume, offer advice on interviewing skills, networking, and the job search process;
  • Secure job placement via on-the-job training upon release;Conduct outreach activities and network to promote grant awareness;
  • Maintain accurate case files, develop case notes, ensure data is accurately entered into the appropriate tracking systems, and work closely with related departments and agencies to ensure a seamless process for helping clients;
  • Develop and maintain close connections with community based organizations and resources to provide wrap around services to clients;
  • Provide follow-up services to clients;
  • Support the organization to meet grant performance outcomes; and
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Forward Careers seeks an individual with:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in social welfare, psychology, or related field.
  • Demonstrate sense of responsibility through good attendance, effective time management, dependability, accountability, flexibility, strong ethical standards, and self-discipline.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • Prior case management, job placement, and recruiting experience.
  • Prior experience with justice served individuals.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

HOURS & SCHEDULE

40 hours a week, Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, occasional morning and evening work may be required as job duties demand, but rare. Hybrid schedule is offered after 6-month review period and based on performance.

OUR LOCATIONS

Forward Careers has three offices located in Grafton, Waukesha, and West Bend. The primary locations for both positions will be at our corporate office located in Waukesha (1) and West Bend (1), with regular travel per job responsibilities.

WAGE RANGE

$20.00 - $28.00 per hour
