General Summary:
Correction Officers participate in the day-to-day operations of the jail. Corrections Officers participation involves, but is not limited to, booking and releasing offenders, maintaining security of the facility, escorting offenders within and/or outside the secure confines to the jail. In addition, Corrections Officers will supervise offender work crews, dispense medications, meals and effectively manage violent offenders.
Essential Job Functions:
Corrections Officers must communicate effectively with a varied population of offenders, including individuals from diverse ethnic, racial cultural and economic backgrounds. This may include persons with developmental and learning disorders, or individuals with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders.
Qualifications:
· All applicants must be in excellent physical condition.
· Ability to follow and carry out duties as prescribed by immediate supervisors.
· Conduct regular searches of inmate areas like cells, recreation rooms and showers for unauthorized items.
· Manage confrontational situations as they arise to maintain security.
· Monitor inmate behavior and report unusual activity to ensure safety and security.
· Must have valid Ohio Driver's license.
· Must pass truth verification test.
· Pre-employment and random drug screenings.
· No felony convictions of any kind, extensive background check will be completed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
