Production Manager
Salt Lake City, UT

The Production Manager will work at our Salt Lake City facility (Spaceship) and is crucial in the expansion of Calyx’s core operations and products. With a data-driven approach and clear understanding of how to build out the team, process, and facility, this person will be responsible for the management and execution of label manufacturing and application. They will report directly to our Director of Manufacturing and will serve as an operational leader for our business. This individual must have a passion for exceeding assigned targets, managing scalable processes and systems, and working with cutting edge technologies. In addition to this, they will champion continuous improvement efforts for quality and sustainability company objectives #quality-does-not-cut-corners / #sustainability-is-multi-dimensional.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily operations at Spaceship including preparation, planning, scheduling, production, quality and fulfillment
  • Execute production for new product development within print and finishing for our current and future customers
  • Identify and champion reporting on key metrics that lead to financial and operational success
  • Collaborate with Procurement to manage and efficiently warehouse production raw materials 
  • Provide customer-owned inventory levels to Customer Success on a weekly basis
  • Own and consistently review production capacity planning with Sales Operations
  • Coordinate with key vendors that help execute print, converting, and application portions of the Order to Delivery process
  • Continuously improve and execute key processes and procedures that support standardization and scalability
  • Implement 5S and other lean manufacturing principles
  • Be a self starter for leading cost and lead time reduction initiatives
  • Develop and monitor safety procedures for all manufacturing team members
  • Hold the team accountable through key performance indicators and consistent performance evaluation
  • Establish onboarding and training programs to support role redundancy and career development
  • Create and monitor preventative maintenance schedules to keep equipment down-time to a minimum including cross-functional collaboration around a production calendar
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in business administration, engineering, or other related field
  • 6-8 years of experience in production
  • 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing principles including providing analytical detail around performance, opportunities, and issues (LEAN experience is a plus)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with key departments through strong communication and collaboration
  • Print packaging experience is desired
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset and positive problem-solving attitude
