Job Description
Summary/objective
The Teaching Artist is an ideal part-time position for someone balancing a variety of teaching jobs or other part-time work. The position teaches Community Engagement Curriculum in the after-school and community settings for variety of programs. Candidates must be comfortable teaching ballet in the after-school setting in non-traditional dance spaces. The position has an hourly rate, plus a travel stipend and paid training. The position reports to the Community Engagement Manager and may work directly with other department staff and Teaching Artists. Teaching Artists will work offsite from the Ballet Arizona studios and will work with students of a variety of ages, experience, abilities, and backgrounds. Currently seeking three different artist for the following locations and time, Central Phoenix in the 2024 Fall Season, Chandler in the 2024 Fall Season, and Chandler to begin training in October 2024 to teach for January 2025.

· Implement program curriculum
· Plan weekly instruction
· Provide direct instruction to all participants that is in line with the spirit of the program, age specific, inclusive, and developmentally and culturally appropriate
· Support Community Engagement programs on and off-site under the direction of the Community Engagement Manager
· Maintain positive relations with existing community partners
· Maintain polite and professional communication
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work environment
· Applicants must be able to commit to teaching during the afterschool time frame, at least two days per week, ideally for the duration of the school year (late Aug-Nov; Jan-early Mar).

· Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
· Applicants must have or be able to obtain Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance.
