Job Title: Director of Distribution and Logistics

Salary Range: $165,000-$195,000

Location: Santa Maria, CA

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Cooler Operations Team is comprised of eight essential functions. These are Logistics (internal/external fleet), Supply Chain, Receiving, Cooling, Warehousing, Shipping, Manufacturing and Facility Maintenance and Engineering. The team is heavily focused on the receiving, cooling, and shipping of product in the shortest amount of time to ensure finished products are handled according to specifications. Along with the efficient movement of goods into and out of the operation, the team supports and manages the Bonifresh manufacturing operations. Functional support areas to these functions are Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, and Maintenance. Combined the Cooler Operations will work together as one to ensure all internal and external customer needs are met in the highest regard for people safety, food safety, quality, and external customer needs.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Distribution and Logistics is a senior level position reporting to the Vice President of Operations-Cooler. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics operations, including warehousing, shipping, distribution, transportation, warehousing, dispatch, and dock appointments. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to optimize processes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Define and lead the overall distribution and logistics strategy for two distribution center locations (Santa Maria, CA, and Yuma, AZ).
• Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the storage, facilities, transportation, and distribution operations necessary to achieve industry leading customer service.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure coordination and alignment of logistics activities with overall business goals.
• Oversee and manage the logistics team, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Set and monitor distribution performance metrics to include fill rates, on-time performance, productivity targets and performance metrics.
• Manage resolution of all operational issues relating to day-to-day logistics and distribution issues by working with key stakeholders.
• Lead and develop team members – employ successful communication and coaching to enable individual and team success and engagement.
• Establish and enforce programs for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and adherence to all federal, state and local statutes.
• Promotes a culture of engagement and continuous improvement within the team that results in cost savings, safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
• Identify service improving and cost savings fleet opportunities to expand internal and external managed freight services.
• Establishes, monitors, and is accountable for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that lead to optimized capacity, cost, and consistent service; inclusive of freight income, on-time delivery, margin, fleet utilization, productivity, and service.

Requires a high level of skill in both oral and written communication and the ability to effectively present ideas and information.
• Technical Skills: Intermediate computer skills including the MS office suite of programs. Ability to analyze financial results and develop ROI information on projects. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. Strong ability to analyze complex situations and develop/recommend solutions. Knowledge of supply chain tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain issues. Prior experience with distribution management tools like Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Trade Management, MRP, DRP a plus.

• Employee must have the ability to walk, talk, hear, see, speak, concentrate, reach in all directions, stoop, bend, lift up to 60 lbs.
