Job Description:
The Scrum Master is a Full Time, Project position working Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm on-site at Avista Headquarters in Spokane, WA.
Pay Range:
$38.24 - $61.45
Summary: The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating agile delivery processes within a software development or implementation team. They work closely with the Scrum team consisting of developers, quality assurance testers, and product owners to implement new features, enhancements, and capabilities to an application, system, or product. The Scrum Master helps plan for, track, review, and report on product increments delivered as part of each time-boxed iteration (i.e. Sprint) 2 - 4 weeks in length. They help guide, coach, and teach the Scrum team in proper understanding and application of agile principles in order to help maximize business value of each product increment delivered.

  • Facilitates all scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint review, and sprint retrospective.
  • Helps remove organizational, resource, or technical impediments affecting the Scrum team.
  • Tracks key performance indicators with respect to quality, earned business value, and velocity.
  • Reports sprint and release progress to project management, leadership, and other stakeholders including burn-down or burn-up charts.
  • Works with the product owner and Scrum team to ensure the product backlog is regularly prioritized, refined, and sized using good acceptance criteria.
  • Contributes to organizational process improvements, and scaling of Scrum.
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve delivery processes within the Scrum team.
  • Acts a servant-leader to the Scrum team, and helps to build a cohesive and self-organizing team.
  • Regularly shares good practices and learnings with other Scrum Masters within the organization.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed
  • Follows all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Nuvodia and its partners depending on work location
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 5 years of related experience including
    • 5 years of experiencing working as a Scrum master within an enterprise IT organization.
    • 7 years of experience in project delivery within an enterprise IT organization.
    • Strong understanding and application of agile principles and processes.
    • Coaching and mentoring team members on agile Scrum.
    • Strong understanding of agile requirements definition including Epics, features, user stories, sizing techniques, acceptance criteria, functional and non-functional requirements, story readiness, and definition-of-done.
    • Strong experience facilitating sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospectives.
    • Experience acting as a Scrum master for more than one Scrum team at a time, including on-shore and off-shore (or remote) team members.
    • Strong experience leveraging agile delivery tools such as Jira, Team Foundation Server (TFS), VersionOne, or Basecamp.
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer support skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Understanding of scaled Scrum and DevOps principles is desired.
  • Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
  • Computer Skills: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio); Internet, Intranet
  • Drug Test: Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test which includes marijuana.
