GLIDE FOUNDATION is Hiring a Childcare Eligibility Specialist (Spanish Speaking) Near San Francisco, CA

Glide FYCC Preschool, nestled within the Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth and Childcare Center (FYCC), invites passionate and dedicated individuals to apply for the position of Preschool Teacher. Since its inception in 1999, FYCC has been at the forefront of providing comprehensive support to children from low-income households. Our mission is to create a nurturing and culturally diverse environment where every child can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

The Eligibility Specialist for GLIDE’s Childcare Program meets with both potential enrollees and enrolled families to determine/maintain eligibility for Family Youth and Childcare Center programs and subsidized contractual services. This person assesses the needs and strengths, and as a team member, helps to set goals that aim to stabilize the family units’ movement towards self-sufficiency. This person directs families to resources by coordinating with, referring to and following up with other GLIDE programs and community-based resources (families may receive assistance related to housing, finance, job skills training, physical and mental health and parenting skills, etc). This person will assist with facilitation of groups and workshops offered at FYCC to clients. This person must be willing to periodically work non-traditional hours (early evenings, holidays and weekends). Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Administer enrollment procedures, meticulously updating and overseeing all client eligibility files in compliance with subsidized funding regulations.
  • Regularly review and prepare eligibility updates to ensure continued client eligibility for services, actively participating in case management meetings when required.
  • Cultivate strong, trusting relationships with families, offering bilingual support and guidance in goal-setting and progress monitoring.
  • Co-facilitate targeted therapeutic interventions for children and families referred through our eligibility process, ensuring comprehensive support.
  • Serve as a dedicated advocate and liaison, collaborating closely with teachers, counselors, employment specialists, CPS workers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date community resource materials, providing families with tailored information and referrals aligned with their service plans and goals.
  • Conduct proactive outreach initiatives to engage families who may be hesitant to seek services, fostering inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Develop and execute engaging projects and events aimed at enhancing program visibility and participation within the community.
  • Assist in the organization and facilitation of quarterly parent advisory committee meetings and regular parent support groups, as well as monthly Childcare Parent Workshop sessions.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of accurate case files and database records, prioritizing confidentiality and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Keep supervisors informed of any pertinent concerns or needs, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Actively participate in audits and uphold contract compliance standards, contributing to the overall effectiveness and integrity of the program.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and cultural competency, adhering to ethical work practices and embracing diversity in all interactions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in Spanish
  • Associates' degree in psychology, social work, or other health and human services OR 2 years of sufficient relevant work and/or life experience
  • Transferable skills: Social Work, Case Management, Education Enrollment, Non profit direct services administration
  • Experience working with children, youth, and families
  • General knowledge of current local, state, and national resources, services, and benefits programs, including services and programs for children, youth, teens, and their families desired
  • Plus: Experience working in a community-based social service agency with people in relationship with homelessness and poverty and the problems that often come alongside these experiences

Health and Background requirements:

  • Must pass tuberculosis screening
  • Must show proof of pertussis, influenza, COVID, and measles immunizations
  • Clear Department of Justice Background screening

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
