We began as an engineering firm in support of nuclear cleanup operations for the U.S. Department of Energy at Hanford in Richland, Washington. We have progressively grown from our origins into a full-service engineering and fabrication company providing cost-effective solutions in the nuclear, defense, energy, and hazardous waste industries.

We are an established small business headquartered in Richland, Washington. We offer full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, electrical, database and software engineering, technology development, and geophysics/subsurface imaging. We also have facilities in Tucson, Arizona and Aiken, South Carolina. We are presently licensed to provide engineering within the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and South Carolina.

We are currently hiring a full time permanent Journeyman Machinist to join our growing team! We offer competitive wages, great benefits and a positive work environment.

Job Summary:

The Journeyman Machinist is able and willing to perform work throughout all stages of machining and can thrive in a procedurally oriented and fast paced environment. This role is responsible for checking their parts for configuration accuracy and dimensional verification prior to turning over to QC. A Journeyman Machinist programs, sets up, and operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and manual machines such as lathes and milling machines, produce quality precision parts for final assemblies, machines, instruments, and tools. This position repairs or produces parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 symbols.
  • Cut and Machine parts in accordance with Project documentation without need of direct supervision.
  • Sufficient working knowledge of materials to determine the proper feeds and speeds for most efficient cutting.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures as necessary to perform individual machining projects.
  • Perform self-verification dimensioning of completed parts and assemblies before inspection to ensure quality of work performed meets or exceeds acceptance criteria.
  • Interface with QA/QC personnel.
  • Measure work pieces to determine accuracy and acceptability per given requirements.
  • Ensure that all documentation is correctly filled out and kept current as work progresses.
  • Keep a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in machining.
  • Knowledge in programing CNC machines (Mills and Lathes).
  • Ability to proficiently operate manual machines (Lathes, mills, and surface grinders).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience using Mastercam programming software.
  • Have a strong aptitude in measuring equipment (Micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend both verbal communications and written directions.
  • Must pass an employment record, criminal background check and a drug screen (drug and alcohol-free workplace).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in R&D or Prototype fabrication.
  • Experience working to an NQA-1 program.
  • Experience with CMM’s
  • SOLIDWORKS software experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull - objects, materials, controls and tools repetitively. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to - hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
  • May be required to work in hot/cold/damp environments.

This position is performed in a shop. The atmosphere is fast paced, and deadline oriented with focus on safety and quality.
