OrthoConnecticut is Hiring a Workers Compensation Coordinator-CBO Near Danbury, CT

Job Summary:

Position is primarily responsible for serving as the liaison between the patient, the employer, the WC Carrier and the practice to provide support and coordination of benefits for all Worker Compensation encounters. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, Adjusters/Nurses, physicians and the public. Working as a team player, conducting oneself in a positive manor.

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm

Department Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the initial contact with employer and Insurance Carrier when an appointment is made for a new patient under a Workers Compensation encounter. Interview new Workers Compensation patient to address additional information, patient concerns/questions or physicians inquires, for OrthoCT physicians.
  • Must work closely with the billing department to assure that all WC patient information is accurate resulting in a clean claim; to include correction of insurance cases and charges.
  • Obtain all verification of injury, availability of modified work and insurance information. Create a new case and update current cases into the practice Management system to provide billing department and physician with required information.
  • Directly interface with various staff to support the total coordination of care at the practice.
  • Obtain all Workers Compensation patient authorizations and pre-certifications (Ex. MRI’s, surgeries, referrals and all outside procedures), within 2 weeks of our sending medicals.
  • Reviews all Workers Compensation notes and determines if patient charts should be pulled to ensure record accuracy for HIPAA requirements, and that the information released to support only the approved work related injury (body part).
  • Respond to calls, emails and fax requests in a timely manner.
  • Report to the Manager, all employer/case manager feedback related to the practice that would improve our relationship with the WC community.
  • Works the ageing Workers Comp when time permits.
  • Other related duties that may be inclusive, but not listed in the job description.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in private practice required (3 years highly desirable)
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of patient scheduling procedures
  • Pleasant personality and patience is required
  • Ability to adapt well to changes, as we implement new technology
  • High degree of composure and interpersonal skills
  • Devoted to teamwork and portraying the company in a very positive manner
  • Maintain proper, courteous, and helpful telephone etiquette
  • Organized, accountable, self-motivated, and attentive to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal , interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and accurately prioritize problems & initiatives
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
