About this opportunity:

This is a M-F, 1st shift, hourly position based at our Huntington, Indiana facility. There will be occasional travel required to our Fort Wayne facilities. This role is managed by the ​Sr. Process Engineer Manager and is part of a team of 4 other toolroom employees spanning 3 shifts. Weekend and evening work is rarely required.

What you will do:

With minimal supervision, research, select, justify, purchase and implement manual and CNC equipment for the manufacture of PHD parts. Perform all buyer-related functions and oversee the daily activities of the Tool Room. Improve processes for manual and CNC machines. Train operators and programmers to process parts using new technology and tooling on manual and CNC machines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the following functions of the tooling process:

  • Design and manufacturing of fixtures
  • Documentation of processes
  • Setup tooling and fixture kits
  • Write and proof programs
  • Participate on the machine crash team
  • Assist maintenance with machine problems
  • Continuous improvement of processes for manual and CNC machines
  • Creating and maintaining JD Edwards records related to tooling and equipment
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with vendors
  • Assisting with special tool design

What you have to offer

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the Machining field
  • 5 years of manual and CNC machining including grinding
  • 4 years writing, proofing and improving CNC and manual machine processes for mills and turning machines
  • Knowledge of Zoller Software and CNC Tool Presetters is a plus.
  • 1 year of project management including developing, implementing and leading departmental continuous improvement projects
  • PC skills necessary for this position include Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, JD Edwards and Explorer for directory maintenance.
  • Superior knowledge of tooling design and application, work holding methods and equipment, and metal cutting machinery and applications
  • Ability to interact, negotiate and establish relationships with vendors
  • Excellent customer service, project management, leadership, organizational, communication, negotiation, justification and presentation skills
