Tread is Hiring a Product Manager Near San Francisco, CA

Tread serves the $660Bn Global Construction Materials market with a unifying software platform that helps materials producers, haulers, and construction contractors connect, collaborate, and transact. We are bringing consumer grade software to a category that has been deeply overlooked, for an audience that is responsible for our built world, and sorely needs software to drive profitability and performance.

Founded in 2016, Tread has recently relaunched its software platform on an entirely re-designed and re-built platform on a modern, scalable, and flexible technology stack. We are looking for talented, high agency individuals that are looking to execute with velocity, drive impact, and collaborate on teams with a bias for action. At Tread, you will learn to balance the tightrope of a high quality bar with ever increasing need for speed. Hear what our team has to say by browsing our blog.

Why We're Hiring For This Role

As Tread embarks on a journey to simplify and beautify the complex workflows of the construction materials management ecosystem, we recognize the need for a Product Manager with a keen eye for user experience, design simplicity, and the expertise to navigate the intricacies of software development. Our aim is to evolve our platform into an indispensable partner for our users, requiring a Product Manager who can earn user trust, articulate the product vision, and ensure the seamless integration of functionality and design.

What You'll be Responsible For

As a Product Manager at Tread, you will work directly with our CEO, Sameer Bhalla, to execute the company’s Product Vision, and help manage the execution and velocity of our product development pipeline in extreme collaboration with our engineering team.
Early on, you’ll jump right into (first 90 days):
  • Work directly with engineering to execute product briefs and incorporate customer feedback into our platform
  • Hold the line of the Tread quality bar through design feedback, QA, and engineering management
  • Communicate product updates with our internal team, customers, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Interface with customers for feedback and platform learnings, and also leverage our reporting and analytics tools to understand customer usage and behavior
  • Read internal API documentation, third party API documentation, and participate in integration data mapping exercises with third party services and customer software systems
Once you’re a bit more settled (3-6 months in), we would expect that you jump into the following:
  • Owning specific product outcomes and platform opportunities with executive oversight and sign off
  • Managing 1-2 squads of engineers against company priorities
  • Working closely with design to prepare briefs and PRDs for executive team sign off

What Success Looks Like

To thrive in this role, you should embody the qualities that make Tread unique:
  • 3-5 years of experience in product management within the software industry, preferably with exposure to construction tech, TMS, logistics or Vertical SaaS fields.
  • An ability to take feedback and work quickly - we share feedback transparently and frequently -> we expect work to be done today, not tomorrow
  • A track record of high performance, achievement, and differentiated outcomes
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Being as comfortable with spreadsheets as figma files
  • Demonstrated ability to ask “why why why” and be focused on root cause analysis and solutions
  • Strong user empathy and an unwavering commitment to user-centered design.

In Office Expectations:

At this critical stage in our company's growth, the ability to rapidly iterate, collaborate, and accelerate company velocity are key to our success. Having operated remotely for the past 18 months, we've observed challenges in maintaining the pace of our progress, cultivating inter-departmental relationships, and sustaining overall job satisfaction without regular in-person interactions. We recognize that this perspective might not be for everyone, and we respect that. However, we are specifically looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about collaborating in person. Our in-office policy is designed to be flexible, yet we anticipate spending the majority of the workweek together at our office. This expectation accommodates necessary exceptions for travel and personal time off (PTO).

Why You'll Love Working at Tread

Tread is building the next billion dollar construction tech software company, and knows that a combination of passion, hard work, and resilience is what will get us there. Our team members joined Tread because they were excited to work with passionate people who cared about solving real problems with urgency.
