ALTERNATIVE LEARNING OPTIONS (ALO) COORDINATOR 

20 hours per week, hours vary, 201 day contract

Start date: July 1, 2024

Location: High Desert Regional Education Center, Redmond, OR and virtual

Definition

The Alternative Learning Options (ALO) Coordinator provides a consistent and objective/independent

evaluation of the Contract and Charter Schools (ALOs) sponsored by the school districts in Crook and

Deschutes counties. Additionally, the Coordinator serves as an information resource for ALOs and

keeps local school boards apprised of any new/changing rules/regulations regarding ALOs.

Qualifications

  1. Successful experience in K-12 education leadership position.
  2. Understanding of current best practices and methods of instructional practice and student support.
  3. Valid Administrative TSPC license.
  4. The ability to perform significant reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting 50 pounds is expected. Must have access to reliable transportation and consistent attendance is required.

Classification Supervisor/Manager

Reports To Regional Director of Mental and Behavioral Health

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Provide a written evaluation to each K-12 district board of directors for each of their Alternative Learning Options sites with recommendations for improvement/change.
  2. Prived information and other support for ALOs to improve student outcomes.
  3. Facilitate Regional ALO leadership meetings.
  4. Communicate regularly and appropriately through the use of email.

Terms of Employment

A contract renewable annually by the Board of Directors, under the terms and conditions of the statutes and administrative rules of the State of Oregon, conditioned upon successful evaluations and the employee’s maintenance of a current, valid teaching credential.
