SUPERINTENDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Superintendent is responsible for providing operational leadership of the facility to ensure efficient commercial execution. This person must work and communicate effectively with the Area Superintendent to maintain the facility in a constant state of preparedness to meet schedules and take advantage of opportunities that arise. This includes performing a combination of tasks involved with storing and handling of grain products and inventory control; including loading/unloading grain, determining grain quality, troubleshooting mechanical defects, and operating heavy equipment as a working Supervisor. Use of company software for monitoring of operational cost control, space allocation, preventative maintenance, talent management/including production planning, energy conservation, and safety.
  • Manage and ensure effective inventory control within company requirements
  • Coaches and provides continuous feedback to employees to improve process efficiencies. To include tracking and measuring progress of individual and team performance and attendance.
  • Provides additional training and mentoring of team members to ensure satisfactory performance and high engagement.
  • Lead workers onsite, contractors, temporary employees and service providers.
  • Ensure all operational staff is properly trained and ensure they comprehend all safety and operational procedures.
  • Works closely with the Area Superintendent to establish and document procedures to improve day-to-day performance and process efficiencies to improve the quality and quantity of stored grain.
  • Maximize mix and blend opportunities by using house stocks with effective space allocation.
  • Schedule and lead all preventative maintenance functions while maintaining a safe and reliable facility.
  • Provide leadership and ensure compliance with all required safety, regulatory, environmental, and company programs while applying specifics to your facility.
  • Responsible for maintaining, documenting, and ensuring accuracy of reporting processes.
  • Executes safety initiatives and follows all safety policies and procedures maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept facility. Supervises general housekeeping activities inside and outside the facility.
  • May assist in interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performances, rewarding, and disciplining employees.
  • Engage and maintain at or below the operational cost control plan
  • Assist Area Superintendent in development and execution of facility improvements and capital projects
  • Ensure security of assets to minimize or eliminate exposure to theft, property damage, vandalism, and trespassing.
  • Implementation of an energy conservation program and enhance sustainability while reducing energy costs and/or consumption of energy.
SUPERINTENDENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Five (5) years previous experience in grain handling, storage, or a related industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for data management and reporting.
