The Lutheran Center (national office) is located in Chicago, Illinois. A staff of 400, under the leadership of the Presiding Bishop, serve as administrators, advisors, conveners, partners, and resource people for the ELCA and its ministries. Staff lead the work of national, domestic, and global ministries and programs including Lutheran Disaster Response, ELCA World Hunger, Service & Justice, Christian Community and Leadership, and Innovation. About the Mission Investment Fund
The Mission Investment Fund (MIF), a financial ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, supports the establishment and growth of ELCA congregations, synods, and affiliated ministries by providing loans for capital projects for congregations and ministries. To fund these loans, MIF offers a variety of investments to ELCA members, congregations, and ministries.
The ELCA Federal Credit Union (FCU), a financial ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, offers financial products and services to ELCA members, pastors, congregations, synods, affiliated ministries, and their employees. The portfolio of products includes low-cost loans, deposit accounts, credit cards, and other financial products, services, and solutions within a not-for-profit, cooperative structure.

About the position
This Executive Administrative Assistant performs a broad range of routine administrative tasks and high-level non-routine executive support for the President/Chief Executive Officer (executive) of the ELCA Credit Union (FCU) and the Senior Leadership Team of the Mission Investment fund (MIF) to facilitate achievement of organizational objectives. It is expected that time and assignments will be allocated equally between MIF and FCU and will flex depending on needs and priorities.
This is a full-time, regular, exempt, Chicago-based hybrid position. This position has responsibilities that will require being in the office on a weekly basis.
Candidates for this position must reside within the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and be authorized to work lawfully in the United States. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
Responsibilities
  1. Manages the executive's and other senior leader's calendars, including scheduling meetings and appointments, managing invitations, and coordinating meeting and travel logistics. Facilitates receipt/distribution of meeting documents, guest/participant hospitality, and assistance for presenters.
  2. Supports MIF's senior leaders in achieving strategic priorities. Coordinates a variety of special projects, some of which may have organizational impact. Proactively maintains schedules of ongoing work, key initiatives, and coordinates with stakeholders to deliver results. Manages incoming inquiries and requests, responding and delegating as appropriate.
  3. Represents the executive's interests and fulfills delegated responsibilities with internal and external partners. Provides administrative support for complex and executive-level meetings, including distributing meeting materials, taking minutes, and facilitating outcomes and next steps. As applicable, communicates or disseminates requests, decisions and initiatives.
  4. Coordinates executive's communications and provides business writing support: composing or editing general correspondence, briefings and executive summaries, and reports. Prepares presentations as requested. Manages documentation, including preparing business documents, routing items for approval, and maintaining files.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  3. Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve goals. Skilled at navigating interpersonal dynamics and establishing professional relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, incorporating solid grammar, business writing, editing, and audience awareness.
  5. Proficient with technology, including Microsoft 365 products and business video-conferencing tools.
Physical Effort
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. This position requires sitting for long periods of time as well as moving throughout the building. Employee will occasionally need to lift boxes or materials up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum: $73,000
