Centerpoint Health – Dental Assistant
Centerpoint Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center. We are looking for a Dental Assistant in Norwood, Ohio. This position is temp-to-hire. The schedule includes approximately 20-25 hours per week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at our location in Norwood High School. Centerpoint Health is a patient centered medical home and provides medical, dental, ob-gyn, and behavioral health services.
The Dental Assistant will need to be able to take x-rays, perform office duties such as scheduling and insurance verification, do sterilization and chairside assist the doctor.

Dental Job Duties:
  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Prepare patients for dental treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping.
  • Ask patient’s medical history, take blood pressure and pulse.
  • Provide diagnostic information by taking and processing dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Assist with scheduling, chart pulling, billing, ordering supplies and other front office duties.
  • Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a computer.
  • Sterilize and prepare instruments, and equipment.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment.
  • Document care services by charting in patient records.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Take impressions of patient’s teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
  • Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Perform additional tasks and procedures as directed by the dentist.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
  • Exceptional customer service and patient care skills with all ages.
  • Pediatric experience a plus.
  • Strong proficiency working with a team.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
  • Will need to spend significant time standing and have the ability to use equipment required for the delivery of services.
  • This position is contingent upon a successful background check and drug test.

  • Norwood, OH 45212: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
Required Education/Certification:
  • X-Ray Certification (Preferred)
  • Radiology License (Required)
  • Certification in Dental Assisting (CDA) preferred, or the ability to be certified within 6 months.
  • Coronal Polishing Certification a plus.
  • Nitrous oxide monitoring a plus
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Level 1 Bloodborne Pathogens.
Experience:
  • Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medical/Dental Front Desk experience (Preferred)
