The Clinical Skills/ Simulation Center Technician Operations Manager will report directly to Director of Clinical Skill and Director of Simulation. The operation manager will provide support for all Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and simulation operations.
Primary responsibilities include managing the organization and conducting medical simulation educational teamwork, which involves preparation, operation, maintenance, and repair of computerized mannequins, task trainers, and related multimedia peripherals for OSCE and Simulation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a medically related field or certification program.
Experience:
  • Experience with Canvas, Learning Space and other platforms
  • Proficiency with PC and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to use audio visual equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with databases and IT troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Simulation experience is a plus.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Clinical Skills Center
OSCE related duties
  • Pre-Assist in monthly creation of OSCE schedule into Learning Space; make changes in LS as needed, input cases into LS; set up patient exam rooms; stock/order supplies; reconcile receipts in Procurement system (e.g. MedMart); set up/update computer stations for SP’s and students; assemble documents (clipboards) for activity
  • During-Orient/guide students; proctor/time keep/record sessions in Learning Space; participate in SP Quality Control, act as Logistic Engineer; Trained and acts as alternate standardized patient (SP) in the event of a no show of regularly scheduled SP.
  • Post-restore order to the patient exam rooms; hallway; and observation room
  • OTHER Undergraduate Medical Education related duties
Assist with various activities including but not limited to:
  • MD1-teach Vital Signs/EKG, assist with Social Development Lab, Smoking Cessation
  • MD2-GYN sessions; Interviewing Skills; Assist with third year orientation: blood draw, Foley insertion, IV therapy, scrubbing/gowning/gloving
  • MD3/PA-set up and teach task training; set up patient exam rooms (including props); assemble documents (clipboards) for activity; Assist with ongoing training of phlebotomy skills during third year Internal Medicine rotation as well as set up computers for ultrasound training.
  • Orient/guide students; proctor/time keep/record sessions in Learning Space; participate in SP Quality Control
  • Restore order to the patient exam rooms; hallway; and observation room
Simulation Center:
  • Setup simulation cases and assist in transition between cases.
  • Setup, operate and troubleshoot clinical simulation technologies and associated audiovisual equipment so that training course run smoothly.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of simulation equipment.
  • Prepare simulated blood, urine and sputum to fill task trainers as needed.
  • Assume roles during realistic simulated cases.
  • Organize and maintain all simulation related rooms including simulators, storage areas and classrooms.
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance and inventory updates, and order medical supplies for use in training sessions.
  • Identify and communicate the need for replacement equipment and facilitate new purchases.
  • Interface with vendors regarding troubleshooting and system problems.
  • Maintain general organization of education rooms: light cleaning of the clinical simulation areas, debriefing rooms and classrooms, including rearranging tables and chairs, wiping of whiteboards and stocking of stationary.
  • Copy and laminate documents as needed.
  • Participate in scheduling and logistic support.
  • Establish and maintain vital records and statistics pertaining to OSCE and simulation.
  • Assist in the improvement of the quality of educational programs.
  • Research and provide recommendations for facility standards and practices related to Information Technology Services.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on simulation technology and facility equipment.
  • Pack and ship task trainers to vendors for repairs as needed.
  • Perform other diverse duties as directed by Director of Clinical Skill and Director of Simulation.
  • Liaise with facility management for minor structural improvement for our task training / simulation programs
  • Maintain the inventory location
Description of Job Duty
  • Willingness to travel 1-3 times per year for further training.
  • Willingness to work on occasional Saturdays and/or after close of business day.
  • Occasional heavy physical lifting and moving of equipment

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
