Health Department of Northwest Michigan is Hiring a Facilities / Special Projects Near Charlevoix, MI

Facilities / Project Specialist position - 40 hours per week

A full time Facilities / Project Specialist position is available based in Charlevoix County (preferred) or Otsego County (potentially) to provide facility management and special project oversight to multiple Health Department of Northwest Michigan and Dental Clinics North buildings throughout northern Michigan.

JOB SUMMARY

Working in collaboration with team members from all divisions, the Facilities and Project Specialist manages multiple building and projects simultaneously to ensure optimal conditions such as security, preventative and predictive maintenance, emergency operations, access control, asset protection, and safety. Performs risk analysis to minimize risk and liability, space planning, coordinates budgeted facility modifications, contractor selection, assists with capitalized inventory, lease negotiations, and contract management. Oversees insurance compliance and manages vendor invoices. Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills, initiative, critical thinking, attention to detail, and general knowledge of new construction and building maintenance.

  • Oversees building maintenance and repair activities for all HDNW / DCN facilities that require a professional license or liability insurance.
  • Performs minor building repairs and installments for all HDNW / DCN facilities that do not require a professional license or liability insurance.
  • Provides oversight of contractors and vendors to ensure service delivery, and that projects are completed within expected time frames and allocated budgets.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of capital assets, updates liability and property coverages as needed, and submits insurance claims, as needed.
  • Provides risk and project management for structural renovations, office space configurations, and new construction according to building codes and in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Monitors (1) county owned facility maintenance fund, (2) hazardous medical waste and radiation certificates for all HDNW / DCN facilities, (3) oversight of all building related lease agreements.
  • Implements annual public / private water cross contamination control program inspections for all HDNW / DCN facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a high school diploma with more than 3 years of expansive work experience. A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are also required. Previous experience with facility management is preferred.

BENEFITS INCLUDE

  • Medical: Blue Cross/Blue Shield is offered, with the choice of a Traditional PPO plan, or a High Deductible Health Plan for the employee and family. The Health Department makes a contribution to help offset the High Deductible. Payroll contributions vary depending on plan and level of coverage selected. Employees who opt out of medical coverage will receive a $92.31 in their paycheck per pay period.
  • Dental: Dental coverage is with Delta Dental, and has a $25.00/person or $75.00/family annual deductible. Employees pay for usage, but do not have payroll contributions deducted from their pay checks for this benefit.
  • Vision: Vision coverage is with VSP, and offers lenses, frames and examinations once every 12 months within plan limitations. Employees pay for usage, but do not have payroll contributions deducted from their pay checks for this benefit.
  • Group term life insurance: Base coverage for employees of $50,000, spouse $2,000, and children under 18 years of age $1,000 is provided to employees at no cost. Additional optional life insurance is available at employee cost.
  • Short Term Disability: Coverage is equal to two thirds of salary, beginning the 8th day of qualified medical disability, for eligible employees. Health Department of Northwest Michigan pays 100% of the cost, and employees do not have payroll contributions deducted from their pay checks for this benefit.
  • Long Term Disability: Coverage is equal to two thirds of salary, beginning the 91st day of qualified medical disability, for eligible employees. Health Department of Northwest Michigan pays 100% of the cost, and employees do not have payroll contributions deducted from their pay checks for this benefit. All current insurance benefits will continue for three months while on Long Term Disability.
  • Professional Liability in the name of Health Department of Northwest Michigan; Workers Compensation, and Unemployment Insurance. Health Department of Northwest Michigan pays 100% of the cost.
  • Section 125 – Pre-taxable health insurance premiums, Flexible Spending Accounts / Dependent Care Accounts, and optional insurance packages available at 100% employee cost.
  • Wellness Programs that employees are encouraged to participate in. Participation includes a decreased employee payroll contribution for health insurance for full time staff, along with the opportunity to earn points towards a gift card.
  • PAID TIME OFF – 1.0 FTE employees receive 19.5 days of PTO their first year, along with 10.5 established holidays, and 2 floating holidays.
