AMHC is Hiring a Youth and Family Navigator Near Aroostook County, ME

Youth and Family Navigator
Position: Youth and Family Navigator
Type: Full Time
Location: Aroostook County

AMHC announces the expansion of their Emergency Services programwith a full-time Youth and Family Navigator position based in Presque Isle. The Youth and Family Navigator will provide education, support, and guidance to youth and their families as well as community resources to reduce the rate of death by suicide in Aroostook and Washington Counties. The Navigator will assist in a system-wide community effort to identify high-risk youth, respond to the youth within 48 hours or less, and attend to their immediate needs. The goal is to respond to the youth at risk by improving coping and community response that will attend to the emotional, behavioral, and physical health needs of the adolescent. This will include close coordination and follow-up with Emergency Services.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree (or equivalent credits) plus 3 years relevant work experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field plus 1-year work experience preferred
  • valid Drivers License and reliable transportation

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with community partners
  • Engage, coordinate, and provide education on the risk of suicide with youth, warning signs, how to intervene, resources available, and how to access those resources.
  • Develop relationships with youth and their families involved in Crisis Services.
  • Complete assessments needed, with youth who are at risk of suicide.
  • Develop safety plans with the youth, their family, and community partners.
  • Provide Counseling on Access to Lethal Means to youth and their families.
  • Organize and lead community events to support the healthy development of youth in our communities
  • Provide case consultation and coordination of services as required and consistent with agency policy and Procedure and licensing requirements.

Schedule:

  • This is a 40-hour per week position
  • Schedule will be flexible to meet the needs of the youth and families

The MHRT-CSP training will be provided by the agency upon hire.
