QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Counseling, or a related field required. Has experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting. Has a strong understanding of child development, social-emotional learning, and strategies to support children's mental health. Has excellent communication skills, both with children and adults, fostering trust and understanding. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Preschool Student Transition Specialist will play a vital role in providing essential support to children during their transition into a new school environment. The primary focus of this position will be to address the various emotional, social, health, and educational needs of preschoolers to ensure a smooth and positive adjustment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Emotional Support: Offer individualized emotional support and guidance to children exhibiting signs of separation anxiety, fear, or emotional distress. Implement strategies to foster a sense of security and well-being within the preschool environment.
Social Interaction Facilitation: Create and facilitate activities that encourage safe social interaction among children, while promoting peer relationships and cooperative play.
Learning Reinforcement: Identify learning gaps or developmental delays in children, including potty training, and introduce age-appropriate concepts and skills in a playful and engaging manner. Collaborate with educators to design and implement tailored learning activities and schedules that support the development of necessary skills and bridge learning disparities.
Parental Collaboration: Communicate regularly with parents to address concerns, provide updates on their child's adjustment progress, and offer guidance on reinforcing safety measures and emotional support at home.
Collaboration with Preschool Team: Work closely with educators, counselors, and administrative staff to create and implement a cohesive support system, sharing insights and strategies to enhance the overall well-being and adjustment of preschoolers.
Documentation and Assessment: Maintain accurate records of children's progress and development, using observations and assessments to inform instructional planning and support ongoing growth.
Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and transition support, participating in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
SALARY: Nine (9) month, paid on Teacher's Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies. EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
