Orleans Community Health is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Medina, NY

Orleans Community Health a non-profit Critical Access Hospital located in Medina, NY is seeking a Director of Finance to administer, direct and monitor all organizational financial activities. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the DOF is responsible for providing direction and management to the Accounting, Business Office, Health Information Management & Materials Management Team while managing the organization’s financial reporting, internal control, credit, collections, budgeting/cash flow management, forecasting, insurance coverage, and general business. This is a hands-on position working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Team and department managers to provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends, in order to assist in building organizational services and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • The DOF provides the administrative leadership for Accounting, Business office, Health Information Management, and Materials Management.
  • Responsible for the development, interpretation, coordination and administration of the Hospital policies on fiscal issues including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, billing, budgeting, revenue cycle materials management and reimbursement.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of federal, state and managed care reimbursement payment methodologies, including: contractual accounting, payment calculations, billing requirements.
  • Ensures timely and up-to-date reporting in accordance with all state and federal grants and contract requirements.
  • Direct the organization’s finance activity including accounting, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, acquisitions, reporting, banking relationships and working capital in order to support the existing core businesses and growth opportunities.
  • Preparation and analysis of all internal and external financial data including month-end close, budgets, forecasts, financial statements, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Provides information to the leadership and management team monthly and presents at Executive and Board level meetings.
  • Develops and maintains system of company-wide checks and balances pertaining to financial policies and protocols to ensure internal controls and safeguarding of all financial assets and processes.
  • Manages the timely collection of receivables each month.
  • Responsible for compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal payroll and employment taxes and other corporate business regulations and filing requirements.
  • Maintains the accounting system and financial reports assuring the accuracy of such reports by periodically verifying the physical presence of the assets and reconciling the general ledger accounts to the appropriate underlying documents and schedules.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives and special projects to streamline and consolidate business processes.

Qualifications

  • Must have BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 5 years of experience serving in financial management with significant responsibility overseeing the financial functions of a nonprofit healthcare organization. Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures (GAAP), business and administrative practices, and nonprofit environments required.
  • Experience working with finance and accounting software packages, knowledge of CPSI preferred.
  • Prior experience with interpreting and negotiating payer contracts.
  • Knowledge with funding sources to assist with obtaining state and federal grant opportunities a plus. Critical Access Hospital experience a plus.

Orleans Community Health is comprised of Medina Memorial Hospital, (a designated Critical Access Hospital), Renal Dialysis Centers located in Medina and Batavia, NY, Primary and Walk-In Clinic in Albion, NY, a 30 bed Skilled Nursing Home, Outpatient and Ambulatory Services, and Community Partners Wellness Center. Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
