HawkEye 360 (HE360) is currently seeking an AWS Architect/Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team. The Platform Engineering team enables fellow team members to build secure, performant, efficient, and cost-effective systems and tools supporting the HawkEye mission. We provide guidance and tools supporting infrastructure as code, automated development and operations, and optimization and right-sizing of compute resources. We also work closely with the CIO team to securely operate HawkEye-hosted systems to support the software development and deployment of HawkEye software.

The Platform Engineer will support the development, deployment, and sustainment of the company’s hosting platform by working with the team to turn ideas into deployed production capabilities. The Platform Engineer will report to the Director of Platform Engineering, and interface with directors and engineers throughout the Product and Technology organization.

As the AWS Architect / Platform Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• Ensure integrity and security of HE360 systems and data 
• Collaborate across teams to understand requirements, use cases, and functionality and incorporate this information into the HE360 architecture and implementation 
• Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary
• Learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems 
• Work with the Director to capture and analyze requirements from internal customers and plan changes to the architecture to meet the functional needs of the organization 

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:

• 10 years professional experience working and leading DevOps teams 
• M.S. or B.S. in Computer Science or related engineering field; or equivalent experience
• Broad knowledge of the full software development lifecycle and deployment stack 
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology stack; particularly deploying and maintaining EKS, EC2, RDS, S3/EBS/EFS. 
• Good understanding of development and security best-practices, utilizing least-privilege concepts for access control 
• Experience with Software Operations, to include managing and troubleshooting production systems 
• Experience with Board/Issue management using Jira and Kanban or Sprint project boards and plans 
• Knowledge of designing and building optimized Docker containers to deploy internally developed software packages 
• Experience deploying and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using terraform, ansible or related technologies 
• Experience deploying and configuring applications to run on Kubernetes clusters using Helm charts 
• Knowledge of database operations and SQL for monitoring and optimizing database instances 
• An understanding of basic Networking concepts to include TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, firewalls, basic routing concepts, and load balancers 
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems and installing and configuring security patches 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills 

Desirable:​​​​​​

• AWS Certification covering Developer, Solutions Architect or SysOps subject matter (Professional-level certifications preferred) 
• Experience with Keycloak, Okta or other OIDC/SAML-based SSO & Auth services 
• Experience configuring a SAAS-based ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) 
• Experience with Helm and Argo CD deployment tools for Kubernetes applications 
• Experience building and updating secure Docker images to deploy custom applications 
• Experience with database administrator tasks on PostgreSQL databases 
• Familiarity Metrics & Monitoring tooling (Grafana or similar)
• Experience with Tableau and Snowflake

Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $185,000 annually
HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
