Coastal Hospice is seeking a positive, energetic, and mission-focused Volunteer Services Coordinator to join our team of Human Resources and Volunteer professionals! Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Volunteer Services Coordinators are responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and coordinator Coastal Hospice volunteers for all programs, including but not limited to patient care, the thrift shop, and administrative programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with recruiting, orienting, training, and coordination of volunteers for all programs of the organization
• Assigns volunteers to duties fitting their interests, training, and capabilities to include, but not limited to, patient visits and administrative work
• Fosters communication among staff and volunteers, promoting the value of volunteer services and maximizing their use
• Reports regularly to the Manager of Volunteer Services on matters pertaining to volunteers and community relations
• Maintains and updates volunteer files to assure compliance with Medicare, State of Maryland and other regulatory, funding or accrediting organizations
• Supports Volunteer Services in maintaining volunteer records, supplies and equipment, and supports the organization by making sure admissions materials are copied and assembled
• Utilizes information technology to meet job requirements
• Assist with implementing processes to recognize volunteers
• Assist with organizing special events and activities to keep volunteers engaged
• Coordinates volunteer activities for Compass Clients and We Honor Veterans presentations
• Represents Volunteers Services at weekly IDT (Inter Disciplinary Team) clinical team meetings
• Obtains, maintains, and charts patient information and requests to update volunteers and staff on patient needs
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Ability to communicate empathetically with volunteers, patients, caregivers and staff
• Ability to interact with volunteers, patients, caregivers and staff with diverse backgrounds
• Ability to educate volunteers with diverse backgrounds
• An understanding of the volunteer experience in a community service organization
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Experience:

• Two years' experience in an office setting or related field
• Customer service experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
