DEPARTMENT: Physical Therapy Department

JOB TITLE: Rehabilitation Secretary - PRN

SHIFT: PRN - Part-time, as needed.

BENEFITS: This is a PRN, as needed position.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides the department’s secretarial needs related to rehabilitation services treatments, including Speech, Physical, Occupational Therapies, and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certified within orientation period according to hospital policy.

SKILLS/COMPENTENCIES

• Read and write legibly.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
• Prior medical office experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Answers phone calls and greets all patients entering the department for services.
• Schedules inpatient and outpatient appointments.
• Monitors and corrects daily charges in computer.
• Gathers monthly statistics for OT, PT, ST, and cardiopulmonary rehab in a timely manner.
• Completes initial patient records and maintains records during active treatment.
• Ensures that all therapists’ documentation is distributed to physicians in a timely manner.
• Completes preauthorization of insurance for Medicaid and other insurance companies. Facilitates Worker’s Compensation authorizations and all insurance authorizations for ongoing therapies.
