Lab Tech Specialist (Mon-Fri 7:00AM - 3:30PM)

Summary: As a member of Production Operations, a Lab Tech Specialist will be cross trained in a variety of key production tasks and processes as necessary to meet production requirements, while maintaining and consistently meeting established performance standards.

Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or deleted as the manufacturing process evolves.

  • A Lab Tech Specialist will be proficient in at least 1 key production processes as defined by management. Currently these consists of; Quality System Maintenance; Purchasing; Complaint Investigation; AM Set Up; Manual Specialty lathing; Production Control; GP ALM lathing; GP inventory management; GP inventory control; GP manual lens finishing; GP final inspection; GP invoice and packaging; GP reporting; GP lens modification; Soft Lens wet inspection; Soft Lens wet base curve / diameter inspection; Soft Lens power and surface inspection; Soft Lens incoming material processing and DHR Maintenance.
  • A Lab Tech Specialist will be responsible to participate in and perform any of the job skills they have been qualified or trained for, as deemed necessary by a Production Lead, Supervisor or Management Personnel, in order achieve the daily production requirements.
  • A Lab Tech Specialist will have a basic understanding of regulatory protocols and maintain strict compliance to the Quality System that they have become familiarized with.
  • Prepare and verify equipment operations at start of day, periodically throughout the day, and at end of day.
  • Complete and maintain production, verification and set-up logs for manufacturing and inspection equipment.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Production Work Instructions at all times in the performance of production activities.
  • Perform self inspection to ensure results of performed activities meet order specification and conform to manufacturing tolerances and quality standards.
  • Report all defective product, deficiencies and or equipment malfunctions to a Lead or management personnel.
  • Ensure all orders are processed according to designated work order priority levels necessary to meet customers requirements and expectations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Follow and uphold all OSHA guidelines, policies and safety regulations. Report all safety hazards or incidents to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Comply with schedule adherence, which includes clocking in and out at start and end of shift, and during scheduled breaks, as outlined in the ABB OPTICAL GROUP Employee Handbook.
  • Participate in ongoing departmental cross-training opportunities and assessments.
  • Be present for team, department and company-wide meetings as scheduled and actively participate in team discussions, providing feedback as necessary to maintain and improve the work environment.
  • Participate in department and company activities.
  • Provide a collaborative effort and assistance to other Associates and departments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 6 months prior manufacturing or production environment experience
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
  • General PC applications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (safety/weight belt provided, if requested). Specific vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

This position works 40 hours per work week. The work environment is climate controlled for manufacturing and the noise level is moderate. Physical demands include standing or sitting at ones station for the majority of their shift.

For US Candidates

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $16.30 - $27.17 / hr

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
