Description

PROGRAM MANAGER AT DYS

REQUISITION ID – 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the primary role of the Program Manager is to provide leadership and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Diamond Youth Shelter (DYS) within the mission of Larkin Street Youth Services. Responsibilities include supervision and training of residential counselors, case manager, and youth advocate; development and implementation of program services; ensuring compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations, grants and budgets; and providing overall support to the program team. Additionally, the Program Manager develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community providers, including referral agencies, and resource agencies. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of program services for youth ages 12 to 18 at Diamond Youth Shelter.
  • Provide direct oversight in the hiring, training, and ongoing development of program staff.
  • Ensure the provision of basic services, meals, special projects/activities, and an emotionally and physically safe, clean, and supportive atmosphere.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and individual staff supervision.
  • Coordinate program coverage and scheduling.
  • Provide oversight of intakes and assessments, and support program staff in keeping charts and paperwork up to date and complete.
  • In collaboration with the program director, oversee budges, contract requirements, and program outcomes.
  • Ensure program and facility are in compliance with Title 22 Community Care Licensing Regulations at all times.
  • Completion of monthly data collection and statistical reports
  • Represent agency at community meetings/activities, when appropriate
  • Actively participate in agency leadership meetings, projects, and activities.
  • Hold On-Call responsibilities as assigned and scheduled in rotation.
  • Ability to pass DOJ clearance to work in a licensed care facility.
  • Obtain Group Home Administrator Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification while serving in this role. Position will be required to serve as the Administrator of the facility.

  • Ability to work with a diverse staff and excel in a multi-cultural environment.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field. May consider experience in lieu of education.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a residential treatment or shelter program.
  • Three to five years’ experience working with youth and young adults; preferably at-risk, homeless, or runaway youth.
  • Working knowledge of issues facing homeless and/or at-risk youth and young adults required.
  • Ability to pass DOJ clearance to work in a licensed care facility
  • Obtain Group Home Administrator Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification while serving in this role. Position will be required to serve as the Administrator of the facility.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with Gay, Bisexual, Queer, MSM and/or Trans/GNC identified young people is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth with mental health and substance use issues preferred.
