Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Cook for Kensington Place in Columbus, Ohio. Kensington Place offers beautiful, comfortable and secure Senior Living options including Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care.
The ideal candidate will share Our Mission : Creating a better world by serving people in need.
What will I do as a Cook - Assisted Living with Lutheran Social Services?
  • Prepare hot and cold food items according to established menus and/or special requests following recipes and procedures. Maintains high standards of food quality, and nutritional value, and sanitation of food area. Prepare food items for any special functions or events as needed.
  • Determines amount and type of food, fresh fruit and vegetables are necessary and ensures appropriate quantities are available; communicates needs and/or places orders for next day as needed.
  • Ensure that closing duties and departmental sanitation procedures are performed daily and the proper sanitation and storage of all left over food items and kitchen equipment.
  • Supervise all Dining Services staff in the absence of the Kitchen Manager ensuring successful execution of meals and kitchen services including delegation of preparation, service duties and closing.
  • Ensures compliance with state, local, and regulatory agencies as it relates to food services.
  • Assists with the set up and clean up of food production.
  • Assists in the daily maintenance of range, cook tables, sinks, refrigerator and freezer and any other kitchen equipment. Notifies Kitchen Manager and/or Environmental Services Supervisor of any malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.
Requirements for a Cook - Assisted Living with Lutheran Social Services:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One year cooking experience required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Experience working with the elderly, preferred
