  • Summer hours - 4-day work week
  1. Perform higher level accounting functions such as auditing, analyzing and reconciling accounts for accuracy and compliance with all pertinent procedures and regulations.
  2. Initiate and process journal entries into the general ledger. Reconcile on a month-end and year-end basis. May post and verify journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain journals and ledgers and compile internal control reports.
  3. Independently implement college accounting policies and procedures.
  4. May prepare disbursements to external agencies via check or electronic funds transfer.
  5. Assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
  6. Assist in maintaining the integrity of the college's accounting system and records.
  7. Perform reconciliations of various accounts and verify related accounting information related to grants, budgets, and other accounts as required. May also perform reconciliations of student accounts and verify related accounting information.
  8. Assist departmental staff with accounting related activities.
  9. Generate a variety of manual and computerized standard financial reports for the college. Assist in design and generation of reports upon request. Review reports for completeness and accuracy.
  10. Assist external auditors by providing schedules, detailed transaction descriptions and other information as required.
  11. Manage all aspects and stages of the College's P-Card program.
  12. Provide back-up to payroll specialist as needed.
  13. Adhere to college, federal and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations.
  14. Work with the supervisor and IT to develop and implement system-processing enhancements. Assist in analyzing and correcting system-processing errors.
  15. Process financial aid and refund disbursements as assigned by the supervisor.
  16. Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum: 
  • Any combination of education, training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job such as those listed above.
Preferred: 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting strongly desired.

  • Problem Solving (Intermediate Level): Takes time to identify and clarify the problem. Knows how to research the problem, e.g. where to obtain relevant information. Applies appropriate level of analysis to the problem. Formulates alternative or creative solutions to problems. Solutions effectively address issues and are easily sustainable. Provides information to individuals and teams in a timely manner. Collaborates effectively with others to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Innovative & Creative Thinking (Beginner Level): Open to new ways of doing things. Generates and or recognizes imaginative or creative ideas and solutions. Is unafraid to use unorthodox methods.
