About Harmony House

Harmony House provides shelter, advocacy, and education to domestic violence survivors. In addition to our emergency shelter, prevention education, and outreach programs, Harmony House partners with the Springfield Police Department and the Greene County Family Justice Center to support domestic violence victims as early as possible in multiple locations. We believe robust, wrap-around support services have the most impact on victims long-term, helping them to break the cycle of domestic violence for themselves and their families.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Development is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Executive Director. They are responsible for Harmony House’s development and fundraising programs. The Director of Development should focus on the following:

· Individual and corporate donor cultivation and giving

· Planned annual and legacy giving

· Utilization of the donor database for donor cultivation and stewardship

· Annual giving campaigns

· Legacy giving and fund growth as guided by the strategic plan

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Director of Development provides supervision and direction to the Development Coordinator and provides assistance and support in planning and implementing the agency’s two signature events - Purple Party and iCare. The Director of Development also supervises the Volunteer Coordinator and Donations Coordinator. The Director of Development is responsible for the following:

· Donor development – responsible for the development, solicitation, management and evaluation of all development activities related to individual and corporate giving. This individual works year-round to cultivate and maintain relationships with major individual and corporate donors.

· Development, implementation and management of the annual development/fundraising plan.

· Staff, manage and collaborate with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.

· Plan and implement two premier annual events – Purple Party and iCare that combined raise approximately $260,000 and a fundraising and contribution budget of over $1,100,000.

· Plan and implement the Annual Appeal Mailer in collaboration with the Marketing Director.

· Oversight of the development database and the overall donor experience including thank you letters, tax receipts and mission engagement.

· Provision of pre and post-event planning documents, timelines, and status reports to the Executive Director.

· Serve as a liaison to all agency fundraising endeavors.

· Staff the Development Committee.

· Present themselves in a professional and appropriate manner with the highest standards of fundraising ethics and best practices.

· Collaborate with the Grants Administrator on all grant funding opportunities including federal, state and private funding sources to fulfill operational goals and objectives.

· Oversight of Harmony House volunteer and donations programs with direct supervisory responsibility of the Volunteer Coordinator and Donations Coordinator.

· Assisting other areas of development as requested by the Executive Director.

· All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Experience with MS Office including Excel and Word.

2. Ability to accurately type data on a computer.

3. Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

5. Ability to meet deadlines.

6. Ability to effectively communicate information to administer policies, maintain goodwill.

7. Ability to exercise discretion for maintaining confidentiality of donor, staff and resident information.

8. Ability to maintain meticulous records for financial audit reviews and ensure compliance.

9. Ability to proofread and audit information to ensure accuracy of data collected and distributed.

10. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and work independently as well as part of a team.

11. Positive attitude and ability to be flexible.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s Degree required and an emphasis in non-profit, communications, marketing, public relations, management or other development related field is preferred.

2. 3 years prior fundraising experience, particularly related to event planning, donor cultivation, obtaining donor cultivation and solicitation.

3. Experience working in deadline-driven environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills, public relations skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, community organizations and more.

4. Experience with fundraising software and donor databases

5. Leadership experience with managing team of employees and/or volunteers

Physical Requirements:

· Performs bending, squatting, sorting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead as required for tasks such as events.

· Ability to lift, grasp, carry, push, or pull up to 15 pounds.

· Ability to climb stairs while carrying objects up to 10 pounds in weight.

· Must be able to hold and grip objects.

· May be subject to sitting for long periods of time.

· Visual ability sufficient to operate a computer.

· Hearing ability sufficient to communicate in-person to individuals and/or groups and by telephone.

Other:

1. MUST have a current / valid driver’s license and current / valid motor vehicle liability insurance limit. Harmony House does NOT provide insurance coverage for the employee’s liability while using personal autos on agency business.

2. MUST pass criminal background checks.

3. MUST pass a 5 panel drug test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
