OakNorth is Hiring a Business Development Executive - Private Lending Near Miami, FL

We're seeking an Associate Director to join our US "Founding Team" and play a pivotal role in originating high-quality deals that align with our mission to support high-quality entrepreneurs and profitable, growing businesses.

As a Director, you'll have end-to-end ownership, with a strong emphasis on credit discipline and delivering an unmatched customer experience. We believe in thinking and acting like entrepreneurs, and an ownership mindset is critical to success in this role. You'll not only help build our US book of business but also the US team itself.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build a book of business in the US by originating, structuring, and executing transactions in line with our lending ethos.
  • Own, manage, and develop customer relationships, prioritizing experience and delight to truly partner with clients.
  • Drive innovation in our product proposition to enhance customer experience while upholding asset quality.
  • Set and achieve ambitious team and individual targets including profit, credit quality, new customers, retention, and customer satisfaction.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end deal process, including:
  • Developing a healthy pipeline and enhancing the company's reputation with customers, financial sponsors, and developers.
  • Guiding borrowers through our lending process from initial conversation through closing and ongoing support.
  • Creating financial models, including forecasted cash flows and sensitivities, to assess debt capacity and repayment.
  • Collaborating with our Credit Analytics team to prepare comprehensive credit memos.
  • Ensuring transactions are documented in accordance with credit-approved terms and sanctions.
  • Continuously identifying new opportunities for existing clients and leveraging networks to uncover new prospects.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with our team of world-class lenders, credit professionals, transaction lawyers, and others across the US, UK, and India, while embodying our values at all times.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as an Associate Director or in a similar role.
  • The “entrepreneurial itch” and desire to get in on the ground floor of our US venture
  • Willingness to think differently as we redefine commercial lending in the US
  • In-depth understanding of the US market, with an extensive network in US C&I lending –both customers and potential team members
  • Proven success within commercial banking or leveraged finance, with experience in senior, stretched senior and mezzanine cashflow unsecured transactions
  • Strong credit, financial analysis and modelling skills, including the ability to write strong, structured credit papers and present these clearly at credit committee
  • Strong problem-solving ability, capacity to think creatively through different deal structures and aptitude to partner with our legal team on documenting these
  • Obsession with customers, with excellent communication and customer-facing skills, and ability to build long-term lasting relationships
