Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to join our research team. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting milestones for multiple research projects funded by the BMGF and focused on controlling agricultural pests in Africa. You will work closely with the principal investigators and technical leads to ensure they are moving in the right direction and making progress towards the overall goals. Your role will involve coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple geographies, and ensuring the successful completion of projects in alignment with company objectives. The current funding for these projects is 18 months with opportunities to apply for additional funding. This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a flexible approach to project management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution:
  • Help to define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with the principal investigators on multiple BMGF funded projects.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate project activities with team members in person and virtually manage all aspects of project execution.
  • Monitor and track project progress, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budgets.
  • Mitigate risks, anticipate issues, and provide timely resolutions to keep projects on track.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Facilitate effective communication with external partners to build trust and clear expectations.
  • Work closely with research and development, regulatory, marketing, and production teams to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment.
Project Documentation and Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, and status reports.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and present updates to funding agency and stakeholders.
Skills/Experience/Behaviors:
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • International project management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Education: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, biotechnology, or a related field preferred.
Location: This position is based in Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC.
