Agricultural Sales Representative- California (field based)

Position Summary: The Agricultural Sales role is considered an invaluable member of the organization and must have the enthusiasm, vision, drive, creativity, and interpersonal skills to succeed in meeting the financial objectives of the company. This position requires an understanding of the agricultural supply chain, including our customers, and a solid understanding of the crops and farming techniques of the assigned geography.
Position Responsibilities: The Agricultural Sales Representative is also responsible for creating, building, and strengthening relationships with customers, potential customers, thereby driving repeat sales. Specifically, this position will involve a combination of sales of existing portfolio and the development and launch of new proprietary products.
Key Responsibilities and Activities:
  • This position is entirely field based in California. At periods of time, there may be significant travel involved.
  • Focus on creating demand and driving adoption of new technologies via engagement with local channel customers, growers, and other centers of influence.
  • Significant pull through activities at retail locations within the designated geography.
  • To attend industry events on behalf of the company.
  • To execute all required outside activities required by the company.
  • To spend time with distributors, retailers and their representatives, either training or making joint calls on their customers.
  • The field-based activities will be closely coordinated with the work of the inside sales team and customer support team.
  • Responsible for forecasting revenue within the accountability structure.
  • Collaborate with team members in achieving company results outside of assigned geography, when requested.
  • Manage and grow sales through existing customers and, where appropriate, recommend new customers.
  • Meet and exceed monthly goals by managing sales activity according to agreed market strategy.
  • Maintain proper documentation within our CRM tool.
  • Properly execute necessary administrative responsibilities both internally and with customers in a timely manner.
Minimum Education, Skills, Experience & Competency:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CA PCA license preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of agriculture-related experience required.
  • Knowledge of the agriculture value chain.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a sales culture of collaboration, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and follow up.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong foundation for selling activities.
  • Skilled in G suite and CRM tools.
