Job TitleUrban Farming Coordinator Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Department County Program Urban Proposed Minimum Salary$3,491.67 monthly Job LocationDallas, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Job Description Summary The Urban Farming Coordinator works with Extension staff to research, select, and coordinate the purchase of products and services to upgrade outdoor facilities, research horticulture/farm curriculum, and work with Extension volunteers and the Program Volunteer Assistant. Responsibilities Assists in researching and purchasing products and services in accordance with specifications and funding limitations. Schedules deliveries, workdays, follow-up work; determines priorities for build out. Assists in developing and scheduling program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities. Assists in ensuring the programming meets the needs of the intended population and reflects the objectives and intent of the program or project. Assists in coordinating activities of program with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications. Assists in evaluating program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzing results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action. Assists in writing, editing, and coordinating the development of promotional, educational, and training materials, newsletters, or brochures, as appropriate to the program. Assists in collecting and analyzing data; preparing scheduled and special reports; maintaining program/project records and statistical information. Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program. Assists with the preparation of periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Agricultural Education, Public Administration, Management, or in a job-related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of related experience. Preferred Education and Experience: Experience teaching in the outdoors, a laboratory, or otherwise hands-on experiential learning settings. Customer service experience. Volunteer management experience. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the public. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual preferred, but not essential. Other Requirements and Factors: Off-business hours, weekends may be required. Reliable transportation with the ability to travel to various work and training site locations is necessary. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have good driving record. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code. All positions are security-sensitive.
