Ambri, an energy company commercializing innovative battery technology developed at MIT, is seeking an
R&D Lab Technician
to support post-mortem analysis and materials characterization of liquid metal battery cells and components. This position will be responsible for using analytical laboratory techniques and instrumentation to collect data for the purposes of failure mode identification and mitigation, novel design evaluation, quality assurance, and understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying cell operation. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a lab and mindful to laboratory safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
Preparing samples via metallographic and wet chemical methods
Operating SEM, XRF, and other analytical instrumentation to obtain sample images and other data
Documenting results in a consistent and organized manner
Maintaining an efficient working environment through stocking of consumables and lab supplies, cleaning of lab equipment, and organizing of the sample inventory
Assisting engineers in the development and improvement of new and existing analytical techniques to gain deeper insights into our products
Requirements:
An Associates degree in a scientific or engineering field and 1 years experience, or the equivalent, relevant working experience in a similar role
Hands on experience, or familiarity with, working in a laboratory environment
Demonstrated appreciation for adherence to basic laboratory safety practices
Experience with, or knowledge of, SEM or XRF techniques is preferred
Proven ability to adhere to project deadlines and follow written procedures
Capability to constructively utilize unstructured time
Proficiency working with computers and MS Office programs including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel
Excellent written and oral communication skills
