Job Responsibilities Under limited supervision, assist attorneys with representation for the State in state and federal courts.
- Conduct legal research
- Prepare briefs, pleadings, memoranda, or other filings
- Assist with courtroom hearings and proceedings
- Review and summarize evidence and exhibits
- Assist junior law clerks by monitoring caseloads and providing guidance on tasks and assignments.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Must be graduating in the current semester or recently graduated from an ABA-accredited law school.
Candidates interested in State Grand Jury will be sworn to SGJ secrecy and included in a random drug testing program.
Additional Requirements: - Position may be required to travel and transport files.
- Must have an above-average understanding of computers, software, and technology (including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and related software).
- Some overnight travel may be required, mainly when trials or hearings occur in counties throughout the State.
Preferred Qualifications - Well organized with a demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and advocate effectively.
- Excellent legal research skills.
- Ability to interact with the public and officials courteously and respectfully.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and organizational functions.
