QUALIFICATIONS:
As set by State Certification Authorities and Governing Board Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (PK-3) License or Education of the Handicapped with an endorsement of Early Education of the Handicapped

REPORTS TO:
Supervisor- Early Childhood or designee

JOB SUMMARY:
To promote optimal cognitive, language, social, emotional, fine, and gross motor development in young children with and without disabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform duties assigned in accordance with the established time schedule.
2. Provide a developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum based on appropriate age group.
3. Select and develop instructional materials and equipment appropriate for children three, four and five years of age.
4. Support child-initiated learning while offering individual support and assistance as needed.
5. Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team in providing services to children.
6. Provide modification of curriculum and materials to meet the individualized needs of children.
7. Develop lesson plans which reflect student's individual objectives / needs.
8. Develop data collection system based on individual goals and objectives. Collect data to document student progress.
9. Develop long and short-term instructional objectives appropriate to individual needs of children based on formal and informal assessments and observations.
10. Complete progress reports and individualized education plans for each child and schedule parent conferences. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. File required reports in a timely fashion.
11. Maintain a working knowledge of due process procedures as formulated by the Department of Education.
12. Provide for family involvement through home visits, classroom participation, parent conferences and parent groups.
13. Lift children (up to 50 lbs.), sit on floor/small chairs, change diapers, and clean-up bodily fluids.
14. Protect the confidentiality of all students enrolled in the program.
15. Serve as an advocate for the student through open, positive communication with families, professionals and the community-at-large.
16. Supervise and assist the program supervisor in the evaluation of the teacher assistant assigned to the classroom.
17. Participate in professional development opportunities.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary to be established by the Board.
