Position Summary:
The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing high quality in classroom interventions with children, leading activities with young children in and out of a classroom environment, providing education and coaching services to parents and preschool staff, and coordination of care with families and partner agency staff using a trauma informed framework.
Primary Duties:
Enhancement, Circle of Security, the Kindness Curriculum and other evidence based/evidence informed strategies as appropriate. o Plan and coordinate wellness contractor services for children.
Adult Relationship Enhancement, Nurturing Parenting,Trauma Responsive Parenting and other evidence based/evidence informed models. o Conduct and code parent-child or staff-child observation sessions as identified on the care plan. o Encourage families and staff to celebrate progress and mastery of skills. o Provide specific information on supporting the well- being of children impacted by trauma including but not limited to child abuse, alcohol and other drug exposure, domestic violence exposure or childhood adversities. o Refer families to additional services to support the goals of the case plan or emerging needs of families. o Lead and/or use contractors to provide optional activities for parents and families to promote well-being.
Learning Grove to promote mental health and well-being. o Model high level trauma informed and responsive care implantation strategies. o Model appropriate behavior with parents, staff, and children. o Educate and/or train as requested program staff as requested. o Collaborate to shift system understanding of impact of adversity on children and adults and to create increased family well-being. o Complete required documentation for both Family
Nurturing Center, Learning Grove and funders to partner agencies to include metrics, outcome measures, and service documentation. o Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work/related field preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years’ experience working with young children and families. Prior work with families required. Extensive knowledge of child development and training/experience in providing care through a trauma informed lens required. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team where winning concessions without damaging relationships has been demonstrated.
